Children sign up to be KidZania Ambassadors to shape a better world
Children in the Arab world have a unique opportunity to become one of the first Ambassadors of KidZania , the first of its kind edutainment centre, opening in January 2010 at The Dubai Mall.
Open to children aged 5 to 12 years, the opportunity to become KidZania Ambassadors comes with a bag of perks including an official Ambassador card, a special KidZania Swatch watch, 12 free entries to KidZania and Dubai Ice Rink, privilege access to the children’s edutainment centre, and a free birthday party for up to ten child guests at KidZania.
KidZania is a children’s city, scaled down to their size, featuring all components of a real township with a central town square, general hospital, bank, supermarket, theatre and other buildings. The children can work and earn KidZos, KidZania’s official currency, while wearing the real-life-like uniform for the various roles they perform.
In short, the interactive city enables children to understand and appreciate real life work ethos through adult role-playing including those of pilots, surgeons, police detectives, chefs, fire fighters, TV camera crews, radio presenters, fashion models and race drivers, among other professions.
William Edwards, Governor, KidZania, said the Ambassador programme has the larger goal of preparing and teaming up children for a better world. “As Ambassadors, they represent the aspirations and goals of KidZania and serve as the effective link with other children. They will also have a key role to perform during the Grand Launch Foundation Day of KidZania in January 2010, when they will participate in the ceremonial aspects of the event.”
He added: “KidZania inculcates in children the value of work and reward, in addition to giving them a clear insight into their dream professions. The Ambassador programme will further instill in the children a sense of partnership with the edutainment centre.”
Submissions for the Ambassadorship programme can be made at dedicated areas in The Dubai Mall; next to Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo on the Ground level or at KidZania near Reel Cinemas on Level 2. Applications can also be made online at www.kidzania.ae. Entries must be made before December 31, 2009.
The Ambassadors will be selected in a draw, and will be invited for the Foundation Day to participate in various activities, including flag hoisting, singing the KidZania National Anthem and handing over the KidZania keys.
KidZania has already partnered with several corporate organisations in Dubai such as Emirates airline, HSBC, ENOC, Waitrose, AC Delco, Procter & Gamble, Lacnor, Emaar Education, Sony Gulf, Sony Professional Solutions, Jotun, Swiss Arabian, ARY Jewellery & DMCC, DEWA, Jenan (Al Ghurair Foods), Du, McDonald’s, General Motors, Emirates Driving Institute, NAFFCO, Dunkin’ Donuts, Britannia, Pizza Express, HP, Baskin Robbins, Coca Cola and SWATCH to offer real-life professional work environments at the indoor theme park.
KidZania complements SEGA Republic, the Middle East’s first and largest of its kind SEGA indoor theme park, and Reel Cinemas, Dubai’s largest megaplex – two new additions to the leisure precinct of The Dubai Mall.
